Bananas are good for your health, but...

Bananas are the most in-demand food product imported from Japan to the Philippines. As a matter of fact, the Philippines is the second-biggest supplier of bananas in Japan just behind Ecuador.

One day, I came across an article about bananas being dangerous to one's health that really got my attention, and thought that this could be just another fake news. But I would rather not include a link to send readers to the article in question because you know, you're already here, why leave?:-)

According to the article, it is healthy to regularly eat bananas and that they are one of the simplest fruits to consume. They are great for digestive health and contain a lot of much-needed vitamins, but there is a catch, one should never consume bananas excessively according to dietitians. Bananas contain potassium, the mineral that a human body needs to work properly, and that includes keeping one's heartbeat stay regular. Hyperkalemia can result in serious heart problems, muscle weakness, and temporary paralysis. It is most commonly caused by acute kidney failure and chronic kidney disease.

I converted that risky 18 grams into milligrams and divided it by the amount of potassium I would get from a single banana, which I typically consume per day, well sometimes two. Going back to my calculation, I got 42.86. Whaaat? That's almost 43 bananas, who eats bananas that much in a day? I bet even a monkey couldn't do that, well, I was just guessing but relieved. And to sum it all up, bananas are good, gluttony is bad, very bad...
