Dabawenyos' Organized Society Japan: Building Unity and Making a Difference
A vibrant community of Dabawenyos thriving in Japan - Dabawenyos' Organized Society Japan (DOSJ). From its humble beginnings in 2010, DOSJ has become a beacon of unity, compassion, and cultural exchange, connecting Dabawenyos across the Land of the Rising Sun and making a positive impact through numerous charity missions and events.
Background and Formation
The inception of DOSJ traces back to 2008 when Joseph Philip Quitain Banal envisioned a space for Dabawenyos in Japan to come together. With the support of friends like Rose Cadeliña, Noel Paglinawan, Clabel Ann Alangilan, Rey Ian Corpuz, Angie Obara, and Deo Iluis, the Certified Dabawenyos in Japan social networking account on Friendster was established in 2008. The online platform quickly gained traction, connecting over a thousand Dabawenyos across Japan.
In 2009, historic meetings were held in Tokyo, culminating in the formation of an Ad-Hoc Committee tasked with framing the constitution and by-laws. By September 8, 2010, the committee, chaired by Rey Ian Corpuz, had successfully created the groundwork for the association. DOSJ was officially launched on December 5, 2010, with the induction of its first set of officers, led by President Roy Tan.
