With the support of friends like Rose Cadeliña, Noel Paglinawan, Clabel Ann Alangilan, Rey Ian Corpuz, Angie Obara, and Deo Iluis, the Certified Dabawenyos in Japan social networking account on Friendster was established in 2008. The online platform quickly gained traction, connecting over a thousand Dabawenyos across Japan.
In 2009, historic meetings were held in Tokyo, culminating in the formation of an Ad-Hoc Committee tasked with framing the constitution and by-laws.
